FL Living History

Living History is an event used as a teaching tool for local schools where demonstrators come to Ft. Christmas Park. Students witness aspects of local history and engage the demonstrators with their trade and how early pioneers coped with wilderness living.

Dear Florida History Educator/Facilitator,

Orange County Parks & Recreation and Fort Christmas Historical Society are once again hosting the Annual Florida Living History Festival at Fort Christmas Historical Park. This will be our 16th year with Mr. Jim Sawgrass coordinating the event. He has decades of experience in planning historical reenactments and has collaborated with schools all over the Southeastern United States. We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a Three-day event!

The festival will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on:

Wednesday February 4, 2026

Thursday February 5, 2026

Friday February 6, 2026

We know that field trips are planned and that funds are limited, so we are asking schools to please make their plans now! We are also suggesting smaller schools, co-ops, and homeschool groups consider scheduling their visit on Wednesday taking into consideration that it is the Public-School early release day.  Please  complete the attached form or print and mail to the below address. We are now offering PayPal as a payment option. If you would like to use this option, please email to request your invoice.  You must submit the form and payment to reserve your spot:

Fort Christmas Historical Society

P.O. Box 1016

Christmas, Florida, 32709

The event will occur whether RAIN or SHINE.

There will be no refunds.

The cost is $10.00 per person (children two and under free)

There will be numerous authentic and educational stations/camps for the kids to visit, and most will offer some type of hands-on activities. There will be cannon and musket firing, so be prepared for loud noises. The experience that your students receive at this event will give them a first-hand view of what was happening in Florida between the 1400’s and early 1900’s. There will also be a Trading Post selling craft items & souvenirs.

You are welcome to bring bag lunches and coolers. A brown bag lunch will be available by pre-purchase only, see the attached document form for details. The lunch will include hot dogs, chips, cookies, and a boxed drink for $5 each. We hope to see you there!
